Meet Jim Schellinger.
Experienced. Dedicated. Ready to lead.
A lifelong Hoosier, Jim Schellinger was raised the sixth of eight children in one of South Bend's working-class neighborhoods. His father was a quality control engineer at Bendix Corporation while his mother stayed home and cared for the family.
Following in his brothers' footsteps, Jim played football at St. Joseph's High School (they all wore No. 50). After graduation, he attended Notre Dame where he worked nights and summers at Capitol Tool and Die to pay for his education. Jim graduated with a degree in architecture.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jim Schellinger today issued a three-part plan aimed at controlling rising fuel costs by applying immediate pressure in Washington, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and developing a long-term plan at the state level.
“As gas prices continue to rise, Hoosiers are struggling to make ends meet, but we need to focus on real solutions, not election year pandering, to address this critical issue,” Schellinger said. “I’ve taken the time to look at the many facets of this problem, and my proposal addresses those facets in a comprehensive way.”
